The objectives of the Research Resource Group are to:

  • connect global health researchers with individuals and organisations who can help them work more effectively, including funding agencies, research users and fellow researchers
  • enable the development of research groups that address factors that impact on health globally, including within Ireland’s multicultural society
  • promote the implementation of research that strengthens health systems in low and middle income countries.

Forum 2012

COHRED and the Global Forum for Health Research decided to merge in March 2011 and to organize the next Forum meeting in 2012, which will inaugurate a new series of Forum meetings entitled “Beyond Aid…Research and Innovation as key drivers for health, equity and development”

Forum 2012 will focus on these 3 key areas to achieve this goal:

COHRED

COHRED supports research and innovation for health, equity and development in low- and middle-income countries.  Specialising in supporting countries in areas such as

  • health research system assessment and development,
  • policy development,
  • priority setting, and
  • research communication/knowledge translation.

Other COHRED activities and services are put into action at the regional and global levels.

Global Forum for Health Research

The Global Forum for Health Research is an independent, international organization committed to demonstrating the essential role of research and innovation for health and health equity, benefiting poor and marginalized populations. While small and nimble, through its annual Forum meetings, research initiatives and collaboration, the Global Forum has been engaging thousands of stakeholders in research for health from around the world, from all walks of research, funding and policy, uniting them for one common goal: improving health and health equity worldwide through research.

Because health equity is a priority.

Wise Words

"The biggest change we can make isn?t how we provide health care - its when. Right now, we have a sick car system, and we need to invest in a health care system."

- Kathleen Sebelius - 21st United States Secretary Of Health And Human Services
