The Irish Global Health Network is looking for Internship applications from graduates looking for a start in the area of global health or the international development sector. We are a small but agile internationally focused organisation. You will get the opportunity to gain excellent hands-on experience in the field of global health; contributing to web, social media and print editorial; helping build brand awareness and build brand profile; business development including new initiatives to recruit members, retain members and host members; generating M&E reports and a host of other duties as outlined below.
We currently have two Professional Internship positions open each for three days per week.
This is a fast-paced environment, with shifting priorities and deadlines. In the past, we have had Interns from both graduate and post-graduate backgrounds in all areas of health, international development, human rights, journalism, media studies, digital marketing, public health, medicine, communications and a range of other disciplines who have gone on to build strong careers in their chosen field.
Job Description
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Support with communications and in particular digital communications
- Contribute to current and future marketing and communications strategies for the organisation’s continued growth
- Design, develop and implement compelling digital marketing content across our social media channels (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and Instagram) and assist with Google Ads
- Target internal and external audiences through digital campaigns
- Measure campaigns and engagements
- Develop plans to increase traffic to the website and socials and reach target KPI’s
- Assist with the set-up, running and reporting of virtual, in-person, and hybrid events, conferences and webinars
- Write, proofread, and edit creative and technical content across different mediums
- Provide support to and communicate with SOT reps to organise and facilitate SOT podcast, operations, events, and other activities
- Act as the liaison between the SOT reps and the IGHN Secretariat
- Support team with new initiatives and strategies to build audience engagement
- Support with the design, planning, running, and reporting of various training events and activities
- Provide communications, grant management, and admin support to the IGHN Partnerships Programme
- Engage in grant-seeking and fundraising activities
- Ad hoc duties as assigned towards development of the Network
Desirable Skills and Experience
- Strong administration and coordination skills
- Strong digital marketing, social media, and content creation skills
- Experience using digital marketing tools such as Canva, Mailchimp, Sprout Social
- Video creation/editing skills
- Experience with using paid social media ads and Google ads
- Strong writing and editing skills
- Good ability to work on own initiative
- Organised, good communicator
Terms
- The internship will run for a minimum period of 6 months, following a probation period.
- The intern will work 24 hours (3 days) per week.
- This is a remote position and the intern can work flexibly, but must be in the same (or similar) time zone. If based in Ireland, occasional in-person meetings in Dublin are encouraged.
- Interns are not paid a salary, but will receive a stipend to cover travel and food costs.
- The stipend will consist of a monthly payment of €500 to be paid at the end of each month.
