Health Without Borders

A Practical Global Health Course for EU Health Workers

Health Without Borders is a free, online, self-paced course in global health for health practitioners working within the EU and overseas.

Built by frontline global health practitioners in partnership with institutions in Ireland, Spain and Denmark, it equips health professionals with the practical knowledge and skills to deliver effective, equitable care in culturally diverse settings.

Coming in 2027, the course will be available in English, Spanish, and Danish.

The project entitled EU-Gloha is funded by the Erasmus+ programme of the European Union.

Why This Course Matters

Health systems across the EU are changing. Migration, globalisation, climate change, and growing diversity are reshaping who our patients are and what they need — yet most healthcare training has not kept pace.

Health Without Borders was designed to close that gap.

The course builds global health literacy — helping practitioners understand how worldwide trends in infectious disease, climate risk, and health inequality directly affect local practice. It develops cultural humility, giving professionals the tools to communicate with and care for patients from diverse linguistic, cultural, and migration backgrounds. It addresses the specific health needs of migrant and minority populations, from infectious disease and mental health to trauma and social disadvantage. And it embeds equity at the heart of care — supporting health workers to recognise bias, challenge systemic barriers, and advocate for fairer health outcomes for all.

Whether you work in a surgery, hospital, community health setting, or humanitarian field — this course will help you practise with greater awareness, confidence, and compassion.Course at a Glance

The course consists of short, focused lessons of around 30 minutes, allowing flexible, topic-by-topic learning. A certificate is available upon successful completion of all five sub-modules.
