Partnerships to Address Health and Diseases of Poverty Challenge

To mark World AIDS Day, 1st December 2010, The Irish Forum for Global Health together with NUI Maynooth, the Combat Diseases of Poverty Consortium and in association with Irish Aid hosted this conference.

In recognition of the wide range of players contributing to improving Global Health and the requirement for improved interactions between them the conference presented research and programmes that ranged from upstream fundamental scientific research to downstream work of NGO’s implementing health interventions. The conference programme, all presentations and a selection of audio podcasts and photos are all available through the globalhealth.ie website.

Speakers included Dr.Zeda Rosenberg, International Partnership for Microbicides and Professor Fr. Michael Kelly, author of HIV and AIDS: A Social Justice Perspective, Zambia, James O’Connor, Open Heart House, Dublin, Robert Thornton, author of ‘Unimagined Community: Sex, Networks, and AIDS in Uganda and South Africa’.
