The Swiss School of Public Health is holding an online discussion live stream on public health. 

The “This is Public Health (TIPH)” – Europe is the ASPHER-led campaign, available to Association’s members and organized in partnership between ASPHER and ASPPH. Overview:
This specialization is intended for people working or aspiring to work in the field of public health at the local, regional, and national level. Over five courses taught by faculty from the preeminent school of public health, you’ll learn to use the core epidemiologic tool-set to measure the health of populations, assess interventions, collect and analyze data, and investigate outbreaks and epidemics.

Learning Objectives:

• Become familiar with the epidemiologic toolset
  
• Measure the health of populations
• Collect and analyze public health surveillance data
• Investigate disease outbreaks and epidemics

Throughout the specialization, learners will perform a wide variety of project exercises, including reflection, analysis, calculation, application, mapping, and assessment, to solve authentic problems encountered by professional epidemiologists during the course of their work.

Overview:
This course includes content on clinical management of patients with a severe acute respiratory infection.

It is intended for clinicians who are working in intensive care units (ICUs) in low and middle-income countries and managing adult and pediatric patients with severe forms of acute respiratory infection (SARI), including severe pneumonia, acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS), sepsis and septic shock. 

Course duration: Approximately 10 hours.

Overview:
To support countries’ preparedness effort on the COVID-19 outbreak, WHO`s Department of Health Security and Preparedness has developed a generic COVID-19 tabletop exercise package.

The exercise aims to examine and strengthen existing plans, procedures and capabilities to manage an imported case of 2019-nCov and targets the health authorities at the national level.

The simulation package consists of different elements including:

• A participants’ guide and a facilitators’ guide to explain what is expected from the different people involved in the preparation and running of the exercise.
• A PowerPoint presentation to support the facilitation of the exercise and its subsequent debriefing
• A set of reference documents and technical guidance on 2019-nCovThe package highlights clearly where some minor adaptions are needed to make the simulation country-specific and more relevant to the participants.

Overview:
This course provides a general introduction to emerging respiratory viruses, including novel coronaviruses.

Course duration:
Approximately 3 hours.

Key Learning objectives:
Describe the fundamental principles of emerging respiratory viruses and how to effectively respond to an outbreak.

Overview:
This course will cover the Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) measures required in order to:

• Be prepared and ready to respond to an outbreak, in particular, the one due to COVID-19
• Limit human to human transmission by way of implementing WHO recommended IPC interventions
• Identify, isolate and report suspect and confirmed cases

Course duration: Approximately 1 hour

Overview:
The WHO Health Cluster Coordination course provides a general introduction to the work of the Health Cluster, which aims to save lives and promote dignity in humanitarian and public health emergencies, and to strengthen the efficiency and accountability of all stakeholders in responding to humanitarian crises.

The course will consist of 17 modules.

Course duration:
The course will take approximately 9 hours to finish

Please note:
For participants who score 80% will receive a certificate. You will also receive a confirmation of participation on completing at least 80% of all of the course modules.

Overview:
This is a 3-module learning package offered by the WHO which introduces the context for the need for a coordinated global response plan to the COVID-19 outbreak.

Course duration:
Approximately 1 hour for Modules 1 and 2 and another hour for Module 3.

Certification: COVID-19: Operational Planning Guidelines and COVID-19 Partners Platform to support country preparedness and response
For both Module 1 and 2 – participants who score 80% will receive a certificate. Module 3 is free of any certification.
