Call for Contributions – 4th Annual DSA Ireland Postgraduate Research Workshop

April 24, 2014

Now in its fourth year, DSA Ireland, with support from Kimmage Development Studies Centre, is pleased to announce the annual two day postgraduate research workshop to be held 19-20 June 2014.

Building on three successful years, the workshop provides an energetic environment in which postgraduate students can present and refine their research; improve their skills for communicating confidently in networking conversations; develop contacts with other researchers, potential collaborators or future employers; and engage in lively discussion with peer and experienced researchers and practitioners. The venue, Kimmage DSC, offers a retreat-like setting with all required facilities, an oasis in an otherwise bustling city.

The workshop is aimed at supporting research students working in the broad field of development studies. This might include human rights, climate change, economics, health, trade, food security, inequality or conflict, highlighting the interconnections between these and other issues across local, regional and global contexts.

The workshop provides an accommodating venue for current and recently finished postgraduate students, with participants coming together around shared interests, challenges and experiences of doing research. Researchers at the early to late stages of their projects will benefit from engaging with peers and more experienced researchers, while people starting out or thinking of starting a postgraduate research project are equally welcome to apply.

Applications are invited from students at all stages of their postgraduate research, as well as those thinking of starting or who have recently finished studies and considering developing further research projects. More specific details on the aims, objectives, and activities of the workshop are included in the application form, which can be downloaded here.

The deadline for applications is 16 May 2014, though earlier submissions are encouraged.

Applications should be sent to: postgrad@dsaireland.org

Please note that there is no registration fee to attend the workshop. Limited support is available to people travelling from outside the Dublin region.

We would be grateful if you could widely circulate this call to people you think may be interested.

Best wishes,
