Ireland Gives A SH*T on World Toilet Day!

November 15, 2013

Every day diarrhoea kills 4,000 children around the world -that is the equivalent of 143 Irish primary school classes. In Africa, it is the leading killer of children under 5 years old, causing more deaths than AIDS, malaria and measles combined.

Yet, the Irish Government’s bilateral spend on water and sanitation in 2011 was just 2%.  Comparatively, they spent 20% on Health and HIV/AIDS, 9% on Education, and 10% on Agriculture. This is despite the fact that access to clean water and sanitation remains the basis for any success to be achieved in these key areas.  Sanitation has languished at the bottom of the international development agenda for far too long. This unacceptable situation must change NOW!

Join the IFGH Student Outreach Group on 19th November in Trinity College.
A video and discussion will take place 6.30 – 8.00pm in the Davis Lecture Theatre, Arts Block.

Tell people you give a sh*t, and sign the petition here!

Have a look through the WTD Toolkit and use it for your own events!
