Gender-Responsive COVID Resources

In collaboration with CNN, Global Health 50/50 began compiling publicly available sex-disaggregated live data tracker which can be found in the link here. 

Furthermore, Women in Global Health asks for a gender responsive global health security:

  1. Include women in global health security decision making structures and public discourse
  2. Provide health workers, most of whom are women, with safe and decent working conditions
  3. Recognize the value of women’s unpaid care work by including it in the formal labor market and redistributing unpaid family care equally
  4. Adopt a gender-sensitive approach to health security data collection/analysis and response management
  5. Fund women’s movements to unleash capacity to address critical gender issues

An article from the IMS,  advocates for media to report on important gender issues in relations to COVID-19. 

Emma Lygnerud Boberg, IMS Gender and Programme Development Advisor states that “Gender sensitive news coverage should never become a side issue– but during a crisis, it is paramount to make it a priority. Otherwise media risk contributing to a deepening of the crisis and of reversing equality gains for women all over the world,”
