Building on its theme for 2018: Ireland, Health and the SDGs, the Irish Forum for Global Health (IFGH) has adopted as its theme for 2019: Equity, health and the SDGs.
The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) within the UN 2030 Agenda place an onus on governments and societies in all countries around the world to meet the challenges facing us all. Ireland alongside all other countries are monitoring and reporting on progress under the 17 SDGs.
Irish Aid aligns its support for global development and health within this agenda as clearly stated in its new Policy for International Development – ‘A Better World’. There is a focus in the SDGs on ‘leaving no-one behind’ and ‘reaching the farthest first’, with a renewed focus on women and girls.
The Irish Forum for Global Health aims to maximise the Irish contribution in response to this call for action in global health. In doing so our mission as a network is to facilitate learning, connect, influence and engage individuals and institutions within the global health community and to highlight the key contributions made to global development and health, within Ireland and worldwide.
The SDG movement in Ireland and globally enables a renewed focus on health as a fundamental and cross-cutting concern, required for human development in all contexts. The IFGH brings our members together to engage, learn, connect and advocate on these issues within Ireland and abroad.
