The Making Time Foundation was the generous sponsor of a novel event to engage students in global health advocacy – the Making Time National Debate. Over the course of the first three years’ events, the National Debate drew in over 250 attendess, and played host to some of the brightest student minds in global health and development battling it out over extremely challenging motions. Guest judges were also on-hand to give their own expert input, including the local – such as as Concern Worldwide’s Global HIV and AIDS Programme Advisor, Breda Gahan – and the international, including Nobel Laureate Professor Harald Zur Hausen.

The debate has seen teams compete from all across the island of Ireland, and the hotly-contested debate prize has enabled the winners to advance their education by enabling overseas electives, or attend international conferences.

Over the three years of its existence, the National Debate fostered discussions that brought together students and practitioners, and it continued to evolve in response to feedback and needs. Please click the image below to read the Donor Report for the 2013-2015 period.
