	Workshop for prospective facilitators for <span data-scayt_word="Santrust's" data-scaytid="1">Santrust&#39;s</span> pre-doctoral training in nursing &amp; health sciences</h3><br>
<p><br>
	<span data-scayt_word="Santrust" data-scaytid="3">Santrust</span>, a registered educational trust in South Africa, has engaged in PhD Foundation training in South Africa since 1999 across the spectrum of development-related disciplines. On Monday April <span data-scayt_word="8th" data-scaytid="4">8th</span>, there is a workshop for prospective facilitators for <span data-scayt_word="Santrust's" data-scaytid="2">Santrust&#39;s</span> pre-doctoral training in nursing and health sciences in South Africa. This workshop, which will be held in Dublin City University (<span data-scayt_word="DCU" data-scaytid="6">DCU</span>), is currently focusing in particular on Nursing and Health Sciences in response to the key challenges that face South Africa&rsquo;s capacity within this sector. Drawing on appropriate expertise from Ireland, this initiative will be a catalyst for the development of academic and supervisory capacity to ensure a critical mass of high level nurse educators and the production of research in this critical area.</p><br>
<p><br>
	Prospective Irish academic facilitators must hold a relevant doctoral qualification, and have prior experience in supervising doctoral candidates.</p><br>

	On April 17, 2012, the Irish Forum for Global Health and Trinity College Dublin&rsquo;s Centre for Global Health held workshops on global health and development with approximately 85 transition year students (ages 15-17) at <span data-scayt_word="Donabate" data-scaytid="1">Donabate</span> Community College. Activities focused on issues of health and human rights, gender, inclusion, HIV, power, and determinants of health. The workshops included body mapping, completing problem trees, doing a &ldquo;living sculpture&rdquo; activity, a bomb shelter scenario, 2-minute student presentations, and a student debate on the motion &ldquo;people in poor developing countries have no hope of having good health.&rdquo; An agenda for the day can be found in the Annex of the report.&nbsp;The following report has collated the responses to each question in order to identify themes around workshop strengths, weaknesses, and areas for future improvement.</div><br>
